The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has increased the pump price of Petrol (E20) by 1 cent to US$1.60 per litre, while that of Diesel 50 has also increased by 1 cent to US$1.63 per litre.
In a public notice, ZERA said the new prices are effective from 07 August 2024 to 04 September 2024.
ZERA also announced fuel prices in ZiG even though the product is not available in the local currency.
The price of diesel has been set at ZiG22.42 per litre, while petrol now costs ZiG22.08 per litre. ZERA said:

The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E20. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.
</blockquote>
In South Africa, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) has effected price reductions for both petrol and diesel with effect from 07 August.
Both grades of petrol will come down by 15 cents per litre, while diesel will drop by between 17 cents (50ppm) and 28 cents (500ppm).
According to IOL, following the adjustments on Wednesday, 95 Unleaded petrol will cost R22.32 at the coast and R23.11 in Gauteng, where the slightly less expensive 93 Unleaded will now retail for R22.71.

The prices of petrol and diesel have gone up slightly in Zimbabwe. Each litre of petrol (E20) now costs US$1.60, while diesel 50 costs US$1.63. The new prices are in place until September 4, 2024. In South Africa, petrol and diesel prices have actually decreased. Petrol prices at the coast and in Gauteng have gone down. There are regulations in place for selling these fuels, but operators can sell at lower prices if they want to. The adjustments have been made to reflect changes in the market.

Petrol And Diesel Pump Prices Rise Slightly

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced fuel prices effective from 06 February to 04 March 2024.
ZERA set the price of diesel at US$1.67 per litre, up from US$1.66 and the price of petrol at US$1.64 per litre, up from US$1.57 announced on 04 January. ZERA said in a notice:

The prices are for February 2024 based on M-1 and they will be effective up to 4 March 2024.
The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E5. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.

The increase in the price of fuel, though slight for diesel, may result in a fresh wave of price increases.

ZERA Hikes Fuel Prices; Petrol Now US$1.64 Per Litre, Up From US$1.57

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced new fuel prices effective 21 December 2022.
The price of petrol is now US$1.48 per litre, down from US$1.50, while the price of diesel has remained at US$1.62 per litre. ZERA said in a statement:
<blockquote>
The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio for unleaded petrol is at 5%. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.
</blockquote>
The new fuel prices in Zimbabwe dollars are as follows:
<ul>
<li>Diesel is now ZWL$1.094.04, up from ZWL$1.090.38 per litre</li>
<li>Petrol is now ZWL$1001.12, down from ZWL$1007.45 per litre</li>
</ul>

Price Of Petrol Falls

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced a drop in fuel prices for petrol and diesel effective 15 December 2022.
In its latest update seen by Pindula News, the regulator said blended petrol is now pegged at US$1.50 or $1 007.45 per litre from US$1.55 or $1 023.77 while diesel is now pegged at US$1.62 or $1 090.38 per litre down from $1.66 or ZWL 1 095.55 per litre.
ZERA last <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zera-reduces-price-of-diesel-petrol-price-goes-up-marginally/">reviewed fuel prices on 8 December 2022.</a>
The regulatory body also advised the public and operators that the blending ratio for unleaded petrol has been reduced from 15 per cent to five per cent. Reads the statement:

The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio for unleaded petrol has been reduced from 15% to 5%. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations. The drop in fuel costs comes as consumers prepare for the festive holidays and also comes after the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Statistics_Agency_(ZIMSTAT)">Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT)</a> reported a drop <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zimbabwe-inflation-slows-in-november-2022-zmstat/">in the month-on-month inflation rate to 1.8 per cent</a> in November.

ZERA Announces Drop In Fuel Prices Effective 15 December 2022

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced new fuel prices effective 08 December 2022.
The price of diesel has been reduced to US$1.66 from US$1.70 per litre. The price of petrol has, however, gone up to US$1.55 from US$1.54 which ZERA announced on 30 November 2022.
Notwithstanding the fact that fuel is hardly sold in Zimbabwe dollars, ZERA has announced new prices in the local currency.

<li>Diesel is now ZWL$1.095.55, down from ZWL$1.113.03 per litre</li>
<li>Petrol is now ZWL$1023.77, up from ZWL$1008.57 per litre</li>
</ul>
ZERA said the blending ratio remains at E15. It added that operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.

ZERA Reduces Price Of Diesel, Petrol Price Goes Up Marginally

The government says it will not force fuel service stations to sell fuel to sell in US dollars except for those that get fuel direct from the government amid fears that forcing players could cause shortages.
Every time the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) sets new fuel prices, it announces the price of petroleum products in both USD and ZWL but fuel is hardly available in the local currency.
In February, ZERA announced it was expecting to have more outlets selling in local currency but has hitherto made little if any progress in that regard.
ZERA chief executive Eddington Mazambani told <a href="https://businesstimes.co.zw/govt-dumps-zwl-priced-fuel-plan/">Business Times</a> that the plan was no longer sustainable. He said:
<blockquote>
We no longer have plans to convince fuel dealers to sell in ZWL$ but they can do so if they want.
The move comes after the realisation that this could destabilise the stable fuel sector.
There are some service stations that get fuel direct from the government, they are urged to sell in ZWL$ as they are getting it at a subsidised price.
</blockquote>
Mazambani revealed that Petrotrade, CMED, Zuva, and Genesis are some of the service stations currently selling fuel in local currency.
Fuel is being sold at US$1.51 and US$1.74 per litre for petrol and diesel respectively.
The fuel was around US$1.30 per litre in January before Russia invaded Ukraine which triggered a global fuel price hike.

Govt Abandons Zim Dollar Priced Fuel Plan

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) on Wednesday announced new fuel prices effective 02 November 2022.
ZERA increased the price of petrol by US$0.3 cents to US$1.57 per litre from the previous price of US$1.54.
The price of diesel remains unchanged at US$1.73 per litre. ZERA said in a statement:

The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio remains at E20. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.
</blockquote>
Notwithstanding the fact that fuel is hardly sold in Zimbabwe dollars, ZERA has announced new prices in the local currency.

Price Of Petrol Goes Up By 3 Cents

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Energy_Regulatory_Authority" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA)</a> says the recent fuel price increase was in response to the movement in the exchange rate and duties.
Last month the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Reserve_Bank_of_Zimbabwe" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ)</a> suspended the the ‘managed floating exchange’ model and adopted a fixed exchange rate system pegged at the interbank rate of ZW$25 to the US dollar.
On Tuesday, ZERA acting chief executive officer Eddington Mazambani told The Herald that when the new prices are considered in US dollars, they are in fact lower than the previous prices. Said Mazambani:
<blockquote>The causes of the increase in the exchange rate. Remember our previous price was pegged at ZWL$18,42 and now we have got an exchange rate of ZWL$25 to the dollar (United States) and then duty on petrol.
And duty, when we had the previous price regime (before the latest price adjustment), it was ZWL$4,26 for diesel, ZWL$4,44 for petrol, it’s now ZWL$5,82 diesel and ZWL$7,28 for petrol.</blockquote>
ZERA increased the price of diesel and petrol on 5 April 2020 to ZWL$21.52 for and ZWL$21.77 for petrol per litre.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices have plummeted to US$20 per barrel, which is the lowest since 2002, on the back of low demand due to a global lockdown in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Movement In Exchange Rate & Duties Necessitated Fuel Price Increase - ZERA

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Energy_Regulatory_Authority" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA)</a> has announced the new fuel prices that are effective Monday, 25 November 2019.
The maximum pump price for a litre of diesel is now ZWL$17.90 while Blend E20 (Petrol) is now selling at ZWL$17.44.
ZERA further announced that operators may sell at prices below the cap depending on their trading advantages.

ZERA Announces Latest Fuels Prices

The price of fuel has gone down by a few cents following a government directive to increase the blending ratio of petrol from 5 % to 10%.
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) announced that with effect from 29 April, the price for diesel has been set at $3,21 per litre while that of Blend (E10) will be $3,35 per litre.
Part of the statement released by ZERA reads as follows:
<blockquote>Please note that these figures take into account the revised excise duty and represent maximum FOB and pump prices for different fuels.
Operators may, however, sell, at prices below the cap depending on their trading advantages.</blockquote>
The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Joram Gumbo had earlier said that the government has no plans to increase the price of fuel. Said Gumbo:
<blockquote>I want to assure the nation that the Government, since the changes of fuel in February this year, has no intention at all to change the price of both products, which are diesel and petrol.
Prices will remain constant. Prices can only change on FOB by a cent or two depending on what happens at buying.</blockquote>
Minister Gumbo castigated social media for spreading fake news of purported fuel price increases which are neither here nor there.

Prices Of Fuel Fall By A Few Cents

Central Bank governor John Mangudya said that the country’s fuel consumption has gone down by 35 million litres following the January price increases.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced a more than 150 per cent fuel price hike on January 12, which resulted in reduced demand for the precious liquid.
While speaking before the Energy and Power development parliamentary portfolio committee on Thursday, Mangudya said:
<blockquote>Following the increase in fuel prices early this year, we noticed that the fuel bill and quantity bill in Zimbabwe went down. Prior to this, the nation consumed about 165 million litres of fuel per month which has now gone down to around 130 million litres.</blockquote>
Minister for Energy and Power Development, Joram Gumbo told the same committee that the reduction in fuel consumption is attributable to the high price and plugging of illegal fuel exports.
