Musician Braveman Chizvino has changed his stage name from Baba Harare to King David following his transition from the Jiti genre to Gospel music.
The new name was revealed in the recently released music video “Ngoma” by Ashy Anointed (Hannok), in which he features. The song expresses gratitude and praise to the Lord.
“Titambe saDavid akatamba kusvika mai vapopota. (Let us dance like David danced until his mother complained),” he shared on his Facebook page.
In an interview, King David, who describes his spiritual transformation as “being born again,” said that his name change reflects the significant changes in his life over the years. He said:

It is the name aligned with my brand now, I cannot still use the old name as I have been born again. The path I am in now requires change and it had to start with the name.

Meanwhile, a social media user, Savheya veFashion, has alleged that King David’s wife is behind the changes he has experienced and warned that he may one day regret following her advice.
According to the X (formerly Twitter) user, King David has shown that he is under the influence of his wife. He wrote:

Mutarisi lambasted Java and Hood, saying they were jealous of him for “the love and respect from the people of Zimbabwe” that he receives without putting any effort.
He also claimed that Java and Hood have continuously attacked him and his Nash Paints business “without any valid reason.”
Posting on Facebook, Seh Calaz, real name Tawanda Mumanyi, said he doesn’t really care who is right or wrong but will not support a fake prophet, adding that Java fakes his whole lifestyle. Wrote Seh Calaz:

Paradzai Mesi, a sungura musician known for hits such as Tiri Huruva, has announced that he is quitting drinking beer. This follows calls from his fans to give up alcohol if he was serious about his music career.
Mesi has faced numerous challenges, including poverty and accusations of theft. However, he has received support from fellow musicians and fans, who have donated money and goods to help him.
Despite previously jokingly saying that he could not quit beer as it would affect families in the beer industry, Mesi has now pledged to stop drinking. Musician Paradzai Mesi Quits Drinking Beer

Dzivaresekwa legislator Edwin Mushoriwa (MDC Alliance), has demanded that Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe should appear before Parliament to explain why the Police disrupted Zimdancehall musician Winky’s performance at a show in Chitungwiza on Saturday.
Police officers, some in plain clothes, stormed Winky D’s performance in Chitungwiza and dragged him off the stage moments after he performed his politically-charged song, Ibotso.
Mushoriwa raised the issue in the National Assembly as a matter of national interest on Wednesday. <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200008522/kazembe-faces-parly-grilling-over-winky-d-show-cancellation">NewsDay</a> quoted him as saying:

A few days ago, one of our popular musicians (Winky D) ‘s show was disrupted by the police. Few hours after that the show of another musician Baba Harare was stopped.
Musicians are the core of the arts industry and they give entertainment to all of us. I am, therefore, requesting that the Home Affairs minister should come before this august House with a ministerial statement to explain whether there are now limitations or that musicians should no longer perform.
The provisions of MOPA (Maintenance of Peace and Order Act) do not require such interference that we are seeing.
The honourable minister should come before us and explain the position.
It’s actually a stab at the arts industry which has been generating something towards the gross domestic product.

Not Cleared: Baba Harare's Chitungwiza Show Cancelled

He also said the Zimbabwean economy does not allow artistes to dress as per the expected standards. 
Baba Harare made the remarks in response to a Facebook post by Zimbabwean model, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jackie_Ngarande">Jackie Ngarande</a>, who suggested that some of the artistes’ wardrobe needs a lot to be desired. Ngarande said:

Sister Kudzai Mutsure, head of the Upper School at the Convent, said a disciplinary committee found the girls guilty of violating the school’s drug policy.

Java also mocked Baba Harare, describing the musician as a spent force.
Speaking in an interview with NewsDay, Baba Harare said he was not fighting Java to get likes and loves on social media platforms. He said:

Java is a bully. I do not like bullies, particularly on social media. I don’t think Java needs a reason to start antagonising anyone.
We might have bumped into each other on a few occasions, but I don’t know Java personally.
I believe a person should not be silent when insulted by a bully. My responses to him were meant to stand up against the shenanigans of bullies.
Standing up against a bully is out of principle. My true fans understand this and, in fact, they have rallied behind me.
We are encouraged as artistes that when someone is being unreasonably cruel, we should be quiet.
I, however, don’t subscribe to that because sometimes addressing issues is necessary.
Java, like any bully, needs to be addressed. It is evident in the reaction to my retaliation to his nonsense that people are fed up with him.

Passion Java Is A Bully, I Stand Up To Bullies - Baba Harare

Hosiah Chipanga and Baba Harare were among several musicians who performed at a ZANU PF “Thank You Rally” at Beauliu Toronto Primary School in Mutasa South Constituency on Saturday.
The duo’s presence at the rally, which was addressed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has given rise to speculation that they are “Prodigal Sons” who have come to their senses at decided to return “home” to ZANU PF as they have been perceived to be anti-ZANU PF.
Chipanga, who is based in Manicaland, has in the past accused the ruling party of corruption and bad governance.
In 2013, the Sungura musician converted his church MAPIPI into a political party in order to contest the harmonised elections that were held in the same year.
In 2014, he used his Facebook page to criticise ZANU PF for allegedly undermining the objectives of the liberation struggle.
Meanwhile, Baba Harare, whose real name is Braveman Chizvino, performed for the MDC when the party commemorated its 20th anniversary under the leadership of Nelson Chamisa.
Early this year, Baba Harare clashed with ZANU PF sympathisers on Twitter after sharing a message on social media urging the youth to register to vote.
In Zimbabwe, calling for the youth to register to vote makes one be perceived as an opposition sympathiser as it has been CCC that has been urging young people to have their names on the voters’ roll.
However, Baba Harare has insisted that voter registration is non-partisan and a constitutional right.
His performance at Beauliu Toronto Primary School yesterday was immediately “celebrated” by ZANU PF apologists who claimed that Baba had “returned home.”

Posting on Twitter, Shadaya Knight said women should value their virginity and suggested that men should not pay roora / lobola (bride price) when they marry girls and women who are no longer virgins.
Baba Harare argued that the responsibility was also on men to protect the purity of young women.
Speaking during an interview with <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/shadaya-under-fire/">H-Metro</a>, Baba Harare said Shadaya’s views only serve to further fuel division between men and women. He said:

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare">Baba Harare</a>, born <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare">Braveman Chizvino</a>, has labelled <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/06/28/celsius-halts-music-after-jacaranda-media-fake-deal-which-took-his-rights-over-his-music-name/">Jacaranda Media Group</a> “thugs posing as music distributors” and urged fellow artists to avoid the UK-based group at all costs.
His remarks come after Zimdancehall chanter, Celscius also <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/06/28/celsius-halts-music-after-jacaranda-media-fake-deal-which-took-his-rights-over-his-music-name/">claimed that he halted his music two years ago after the group had allegedly created a fake contract</a> which took over his music, voice, sound, likeness, photographs and name.
Celscius told Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa that he engaged lawyers but the case seems to have reached a brick wall amid reports that the group is politically connected. 
Commenting on Celscius’ story, Baba Harare agreed with him even labelling the group as Satan incarnate. He said:

Whilst I normally would have decided to sort this in private but sometimes fight fire with fire. My earlier work was stolen by a company inonzi Jacaranda music. Jacaranda Media Group Are Thugs Posing As Music Distributors - Baba Harare

Musician <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nomagugu_Ncube" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Nomagugu Ncube</a> has dismissed claims that she is married to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Baba Harare</a> saying she is in a relationship but not with the Jiti master.
Rumours about Noma’s alleged marriage to Baba Harare emerged a day before the latter’s latest single “Handidi Zvekumitisa”, was released.
Baba Harare had posted pictures of Noma and himself dressed in African attire with the caption: “Where it started, where we are. “Roora settings. Dzakafambirwa nezuro nyaya dzacho”.
This set off the rumours about the marriage with hundreds of Baba Harare’s fans congratulating him on his Facebook page.
It later emerged that the pictures posted by Baba Harare were just a teaser, preceding the launch of his video.
Speaking in an interview with The Herald, Noma said it was too soon for her to declare that she was taken, but certainly not by Baba Harare. She said:
<blockquote>As of now, I am in a relationship. It’s too soon for me to know if I am taken for good…
I met Baba Harare at work. We have a show called Colorvibes mix at work, so I needed him to be our guest. I asked him and to my surprise, he just said it’s okay.
My producer Jamal apparently is the one who told him I could sing. A few days after the show, Baba Harare asked if we could do a song together.
At first, I wasn’t sure of the idea, you know Baba Harare being the Jiti master, I wasn’t up for vibing to a Jiti song, but I’m grateful to Baba Harare.</blockquote>
Noma said she migrated to Harare soon after school to pursue her music dream and in 2014 she was nominated in the top six of the Zimtalent Hunt show.
In 2017, Noma was the overall winner of the Starbrite music talent show and she was sought after by several musicians who hired her as a backing vocalist.
She said it is her wish to work with Jah Prayzah, Zahara and Lira in future.

Noma: I'm In A Relationship But Not With Baba Harare

Jiti musician <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Baba Harare</a>, born Braveman Chizvino, has neither confirmed no denied reports that he paid lobola for Nash TV presenter Noma Ncube saying his relationship remains private.
The “Reason Why” hitmaker posted images on Facebook over the weekend, posing with Dube, both wearing African attire.
His followers immediately interpreted this as an announcement that the duo was in the process of conducting traditional marriage rites.
Baba Harare told The Herald that the photos were just a teaser, preceding the launch of his video. He said:
<blockquote>I am surprised by the comments on social media. Noma and I are friends, we are not dating, she was featured on my video. My relationship remains private, for now, let us not talk about that.</blockquote>
On the video, which was set to be released on Monday morning, titled “Handidi Zvekumitisa”, the musician said it was about the importance of doing things properly rather than taking shortcuts when it comes to marriage. He said:
<blockquote>People should just do the right thing. Get married first and the rest follow. I have seen of late that most couples rush to have babies without marrying, which somehow is their choice, but it is good to marry first.</blockquote>

Baba Harare (real name Braveman Chizvino) ‘s promoter has addressed the story that the jiti singer is suing him and said there is no such lawsuit at the courts in Zimbabwe and the story was leaked to the media by the muso’s new manager in a bid to promote his new album, ZimMorning Post.
UK based promoter Charles Guvamatanga who used to be Baba Harare’s promoter spoke to the publication and said the lawsuit in which Chizvino was demanding about £43 500 from him doesn’t exist:
<blockquote>I’m not aware of any lawsuit and I have checked with the courts and no such papers were filed against me. We do not owe him anything</blockquote>
According to the publication, Guvamatanga further claimed that the fabricated story was made up by Chizvino’s new manager in a bid to promote the musician’s new album.

Jiti Musician, Baba Harare, born Braveman Chizvino, is reportedly in perfect condition after experiencing severe chest pains and breathing problems that prompted him to undergo screening for the dreaded coronavirus.
His manager Filda Muchabaiwa popularly known as Mother Filo dismissed social media reports which suggested that the singer was taken to Wilkins Hospital in an ambulance and was also admitted at the infectious diseases institution. She said:
<blockquote>He was having chest pains and experienced difficulties in breathing. We are at a time where the country is fighting coronavirus and breathing difficulty is also among the symptoms. Just to be on the safe side he presented himself to the hospital and the tests were done and he was negative…
It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in such a position, explaining and making public someone’s health details but in the interest of transparency we had to do it. Social media is becoming dangerous these days, inflaming things out of proportion.</blockquote>
Mama Filo’s remarks are contrary to those <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/04/17/baba-harare-tested-for-coronavirus/">she reportedly said while speaking to H-Metro</a>. Baba Harare Speaks On Alleged Coronavirus Illness And Admission At Wilkins

Jiti musician Baba Harare – born Braveman Chizvino – is reportedly unwell and was taken to Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital early this week for COVID-19 tests after he complained of severe chest pains and breathing difficulties at his Budiriro home.
The development was confirmed by his manager Filder “Mama Filo” Muchabaiwa. She said:
<blockquote>Yes, Baba Harare is unwell but we are monitoring his situation since he is taking some medication.
He developed some chest pains and breathing problems but as we speak right now, he is responding well to medication.
To date, doctors have conducted several tests from blood tests and even COVID-19.
We had to call an ambulance which took him to Wilkins (Infectious Diseases) Hospital early this week where he was also attended to by the staff but he is fine.
Initially, we were scared because his condition was bad as he is beginning to show signs of improvement.</blockquote>
Mama Filo added that the 31-year-old Hat Yemurara singer was set to travel to his rural home in Bikita to rest for a couple of days.
She assured Baba Harare’s fans that the singer is not seriously ill and will be back in action soon.

Baba Harare Tested For Coronavirus

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Dereck_Mpofu">Dereck Mpofu</a> had to take to social media to defend his song Chimbozvizunza which featured<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Beverly_Sibanda"> Bev</a> and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare">Baba Harare</a> as social media received the song with mixed reactions Newsday reports.
Responding to a facebook user who had questioned his decision to engage controversial Bev, Mpofu said:
<blockquote>The reality is mentioning that you like me on Facebook without investing back into the music, does not propel my career further, especially people who could actually support by attending shows and buying our music. In fact, it has stunted my growth.</blockquote>
However, that didn’t stop trolls from voicing their opinions as they shared their opinions which include:
<blockquote>While some of us have been following with admiration your music, these latest developments are a clear departure for the artiste that we known.While life is all about making choices, this road that you have decided to take will lead to nowhere fast</blockquote>
Some social media users, however, applauded the musician and said:
<blockquote>I feel my opinion and that of many others is irrelevant when it comes to growing your career and making difficult decisions. Whatever happens from here, whether good or bad you will learn from and grow.
Dereck Mpofu can tap into whatever pleasantries that tickle his soul for he is his own person and he is allowed to live his life as he pleases, just like we all are.
Knowing him or following his career journey does not buy you any rights to his decision making.</blockquote>

Baba Harare is set to release a new video of the song “Mitoro” which he collaborated which Kubata Kwashe Choral group. The video is going to be released next week.
Baba Harare said he met the group at the studio and he was impressed with the song.
<blockquote>I met the choral group at Lyton Ngolomi’s studio when they were rehearsing the track and it was captivating and it made me want to sing some lines.</blockquote>
He then asked the group to make him part of the song as well and they granted him the chance. Baba Harare who was answering questions from H-Metro said that the upcoming video is a must watch.
Baba Harare was Jah Prayzah’s lead guitarist before he embarked on a solo career. He has released many hits such as ” The Reason Why, Ramba Wakadzvanya, Minamato Yemarasta” and many others.

Baba Harare Collaborates With Kubata Kwashe On  A New Video

Baba Harare, real name Braveman Chizvino’s band members have revealed that the musician’s manager Mama Filo harassed them.
The claims come after drummer Tinashe Chihota, bassist Kudakwashe Yanika and keyboardist Tafadzwa abandoned Baba Harare’s City Vibration earlier this month. Yanika told a local publication that he decided to quit because he could not stand any further ill treatment. Baba Harare’s manager, Mama Filo real name Filda Muchabaiwa reportedly constantly threatened band members with dismissal. Said Yanika:
<blockquote>We finally quit Baba Harare’s City Vibration during last Extra Mile show with Peter after the inhuman and unprofessional treatment by his new band manageress, Mama Filo. We were supposed to arrive at Extra Mile by 12noon, we delayed by 30 minutes then Mama Filo said ‘we are going to fire you’. That is when we decided there and then to quit before being further threatened and humiliated as it was clear that our penalty was just by the corner.</blockquote>

Baba Harare's Manager Accused Of Abusing Former Band Members

Baba Harare told The Herald that his former boss Jah Prayzah refused to appear in his “Guzuzu” video which was released on Monday because he does not make videos for songs that are already in the public domain.
Baba Harare featured Jah Prayzah on Guzuzu. Said Baba Harare:
<blockquote>When we were about to do the video, I approached Jah Prayzah with a request for him to feature on the video. I was surprised when he told me that he no longer does videos for songs that are already in the public domain. He said his current style is to have a song and its accompanying video going on the market at once. He said we were supposed to do the audio and video at the same time. He said it is too late to revisit a stale song to have a ‘resurrection’ video. I was disappointed because I wanted him to be part of the video. I had to do his lines on the video. I did not have an option since I wanted to push this song through a video like we did with ‘The Reason Why?’ that has become a hit.</blockquote>
When contacted for a comment by The Herald, Jah Prayzah, through his manager Keen Mushapaidze, confirmed they no longer do videos for old songs, but said they failed to make time for Baba Harare’s video because of a busy schedule.

Jah Prayzah Refuses To Feature In Baba Harare's "Guzuzu" Video, Says He Does Not Make Videos For Old Songs

Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mushapaidze revealed that they have found a replacement for former guitarist and  vocalist Baba Harare who left the band to launch a solo career.
Mushapaidze said they will reveal him at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, on January 27 during Sam Dondo’s album launch. Said Mushapaidze:
<blockquote>We are also going to unveil Baba Harare’s replacement at this show after auditioning a number of artistes that were recommended by the band. At the moment, we can’t reveal the name and we will only do so at 7 Arts on January 27. We are pleased with the new replacement we found and we hope fans will fall in love with him.</blockquote>

Jah Prayzah finds replacement for Baba Harare

The Herald reports that Jah Prayzah had to beg his former guitarist Braveman Chizvino, who had resigned earlier the previous week, to perform at his first show on Sunday.
A seemingly desperate Jah Prayzah came on stage and there was no one on the lead guitar. A few minutes later Baba Harare or simply Bravo arrived at the venue making a grand entrance to save what promised to be a disaster. He was received with wild cheers as if he is the main man and after his arrival it was business as usual.
An insider told The Herald that Jah Prayzah had to use his longtime friend Lloyd Kurima, popularly known as Mabla 10, to persuade Baba Harare to show up. The paper was informed that Jah Prayzah last week had been conducting auditions at his Belvedere offices to find a replacement but had failed to find one at the time of having his first show.
