South African police said there is no update as yet in the investigation into the murder of musician Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Col Robert Netshiunda on Monday dismissed a report the previous day claiming three suspects were arrested for the rapper’s death, reported <a href="https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2023-03-27-no-update-on-aka-matter-kzn-police-dismiss-report-of-arrests/">TimesLive</a>.
AKA and his friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead by unknown gunmen outside a popular restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road last month.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula described AKA’s murder as an assassination.
Police minister Bheki Cele told a ministerial imbizo in mid-March that police were making significant progress in their investigation into the murder.

South African Police Say AKA's Killers Yet To Be Arrested

The hitmen who assassinated South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, famously known as AKA, may have been paid almost R250 000, a report claims.
A Durban-based taxi boss who has knowledge of professional hits told TimesLive that hits could range from R10 000 to kill an ordinary person with no bodyguards to R500 000.
The man, who was not named, said the “more dangerous” a person was, the more expensive the contract killing became, <a href="https://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-and-courts/hitmen-were-probably-paid-r250-000-to-kill-aka-and-were-not-amateurs-69f38488-75ef-4719-a363-0677f0764908">reported IOL</a>, citing the report in TimesLive.
The taxi boss said executing a hit could take time, and a hit for a person with bodyguards could take months to execute.
The taxi boss said that to carry out the hit, someone had to inform the killers of AKA’s whereabouts, one person was hired to pull the trigger, and someone to drive the getaway car.
In addition, the taxi boss said the hitmen who killed AKA were not amateurs. He said:

They shot the two people in the presence of many. An amateur would not be able to do that. These are serious hitmen.

AKA was gunned down outside Wish Restaurant in Florida Road, Durban on 10 February alongside a friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
Forbes was laid to rest in a private ceremony on Saturday.
Police are yet to arrest any suspect in connection with the murders.

"Hitmen Were Probably Paid R250 000 To Kill AKA"

ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has said musician AKA was assassinated.
The rapper, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, and his former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, were shot in Durban on Friday night.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.enca.com/news/mbalula-aka-was-assassinated">eNCA</a>, Mbalula expressed confidence that the police will apprehend the killers. He said:

We can’t make speculations, but we know, it was a hit, AKA was assassinated.
We believe in the capacity of the police to dig deep and get the killers and also why it happened.
</blockquote>
Mbalula called for anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, a prayer was held on Sunday evening in Durban by fans and industry peers for AKA and Tibz.
Ashleigh La Foy, who is an artist in Durban said that AKA gave South Africa timeless music.

Top ANC Official, Fikile Mbalula, Says AKA Was Assassinated

South Africa’s second-largest opposition party, EFF, has said the death of Hip Hop artist and producer, Kienarn Forbes, popularly known as AKA, has taken a generation of Hip Hop backward.
AKA was shot dead in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road in Durban on Friday night. 
He was shot along with his long-time friend Tebello Motsoane, popularly known as Tibz.
In a statement this Saturday, the EFF said AKA was an inspiration to the thousands of young people, especially in the Cape Flats of the City of Cape Town. Reads the statement:

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) mourns the tragic and devastating death of popular Hip Hop artist and producer, Kienarn “AKA” Forbes. 
AKA was brutally shot dead in Florida Street, Durban on the 10th of February 2023.
AKA has been a shining light in the Hip Hop industry in South Africa for over a decade, revolutionising the craft through cross-genre sampling, drawing inspiration from Kwaito, Afro-beats, House Music, Soul and R&amp;B to create memorable hits. 
He was an award-winning artist, winning multiple South African Music Awards (SAMA), notably for Male Artist of the Year and Best Street Urban Music Album in 2012, and an MTV Award for Best Collaboration in 2015 for the hit single All Eyes On Me.
The loss of AKA has taken a generation of Hip Hop backwards, and the nation has lost an indisputable talent.

AKA's Death Has Taken A Generation Of Hip Hop Backwards - EFF

The South African entertainment industry has been plunged into morning following the death of star rapper <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/AKA">AKA</a>.
AKA was shot and killed at a night club in Durban last night. 
He was 35.
An official from the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the sad development. He said:

What we can confirm for now is that a well-known musician aged 35 and his bodyguard who is said to be 34 years of age, were shot and killed on Florida Road on Friday.
What we have for now is that the musician and his bodyguard were leaving a restaurant after having dinner at a restaurant and as they were leaving for their vehicle, two unknown gunmen came across the street on foot, and opened fire on them, killing them instantly.

South Africa: Rapper AKA Shot Dead

South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, says some of the people he and her late fiancee Anele Tembe loved and trusted with their troubles are now using them to malign his character.
In a statement on Saturday, AKA said he will not allow people to vilify him or soil Anele’s character to suit a certain narrative that he has not signed for. The statement read:

AKA Hits Out At Sinister Agenda To Influence Police Inquest Into Nelli's Death

Well-known musician AKA’s 22-year-old fiancée Nelli Tembe has died. Tembe died at the five-star Pepperclub Hotel in central Cape Town and police were on Sunday morning investigating the death.
AKA’s publicist, Phumza Nohashe, said the Forbes and Tembe families would release a statement soon.
Witnesses at the scene described hearing shouting and a “loud doof” sound and said they had heard a man calling security and crying. Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst is quoted as saying:
<blockquote>Paramedics on the scene have said a female had allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of that building. When paramedics arrived on the scene, she had sustained polytraumatic injuries.
She was in critical condition and they started a full life-support resuscitation. Unfortunately, her injuries were too severe and she was declared deceased.</blockquote>
Pepperclub Hotel general manager Efi Ella also confirmed that a young woman had fallen from one of the upper floors of the hotel at 7.30 am on Sunday.
Police in Western Cape said crime-scene experts were looking for clues at the hotel. Police said in a statement:
<blockquote>Cape Town Central police are investigating an inquest case after an incident at a hotel this morning at about 7.45 am on the corners of Loop and Bloem streets, Cape Town CBD, where the body of a 22-year-old woman was found deceased.</blockquote>

Popular South African rapper AKA( real name Kiernan Forbes) has posted his solidarity message with beleaguered Zimbabwe as news of human rights abuses, abductions, beatings and torture and arrests of civilians make global news.
Writing on the microblogging site, AKA posted a photo of him wearing a Zimbabwean flag and said:
<blockquote>I would say, “I’m praying for you” … but that’s a bit over done, I’d rather just say, you’re on my mind and I hope you will be victorious soon.</blockquote>
The rapper also retweeted many tweets about Zimbabwe’s current affairs and the outcry by Zimbabweans and other concerned people all around the world following last week’s events.
Back home many major artistes have remained mum on the issues bedevilling the country except for Sani Makhalima and Leonard Mapfumo who said they they wished the pain and suffering would end.

South African Rapper Kiernan Forbes, AKA, has tested positive for COVID-19, This was revealed by the Supermega (as AKA is referred to by his fans ) himself when he posted the following statement on his social media.

Popular South African Rapper AKA Tests Positive For COVID-19

In a move that may sadden Bulawayo good music lovers, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Oskido">Oskido</a>‘s Kalawa Homecoming concert may not happen in 2019 Sunday News reports. This was revealed by Oskido’s Kalawa spokesperson who was non-committal when asked about this year’s edition of the popular show.
