Zenzo Nyathi is a Zimbabwean actor and director. He is a graduate of Amakhosi performing Arts in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He is a stage performer, director and writer. He featured in over 3 000 performances in the past 19 years. He is the founder and the managing Director of Ingxoxo Arts, based in Bulawayo, but working internationally. He has directed Climate Smart Agriculture Theatre for Policy Advocacy pieces at both national and regional levels. Zenzo is a Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) champion trained in Climate Change Leadership and Policy Advocacy.[1]
Background
He is a three-time NAMA-winning theatre and film practitioner. After years of mesmerising theatre lovers and viewers on the small screen, veteran actor and former Amakorokoza star, Zenzo “Mzambane” Nyathi also explored his musical side after working on his debut album. He said music and acting were equally important parts of his career when he started out at Amakhosi Cultural Center, where artistes were taught a variety of disciplines.[2]
Education
While at various times he has grabbed the attention of the country with his stellar acting during his career, veteran actor Zenzo Nyathi recently proved he also as capable in the classroom when he graduated from the Africa Multi-Nation for Christ Colleges (AMFCC) a Bible college under the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (Zaoga), which meets the training needs of church leaders and congregations worldwide. Nyathi graduated with a Diploma in Theology.[3]
Career
Nyathi has featured in a number of theatrical works that have been showcased at festivals across the world, and of note is the Cont Mhlanga-produced Amakorokoza drama series where he featured as the notorious Mzambane. He said he was working on a puppetry show, with a view to make it a teaching tool in agriculture and nutrition subjects. "My production, which I have titled Stix and Stompie, is meant to be an online series that delves into agriculture and nutrition issues. This is where we are using art to communicate and educate the masses on agricultural issues," he said.[4]
