Zambezi Elephant Fund

The Zambezi Elephant Fund works to support and actively address the preservation of threatened wildlife and habitat in the Zambezi Valley. It was formed by a collaboration of individauls, Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks), safari operators and Conservation Support Organisations with the objective to create awareness of poaching and habitat loss.

History

ZEF was formed in 2015.

Mission Statement

The Zambezi Elephant Fund (ZEF) works collaboratively with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority, NGOs and the private sector to develop, implement and manage: anti-poaching operations, field equipment and supplies for rangers and support teams, anti-poaching ranger training, conservation security planning and implementation, information systems and networking, technology and systems for anti-poaching operations, community livelihood programs, habitat restoration initiatives, and education and awareness delivery.

Stand Up For Elephants – Donate and Fundraise by making your own video and sharing it with the world!
Patrolling from land, river and skies – Fuel, maintenance, repairs.
Marongora School and Mana Clinic projects – Looking after the rangers and their families with infrastructure development and maintenance, school supplies, medical supplies, classroom aids.
Illegal Wildlife Crime Unit – Every donation helps keep this highly effective operation going.

Trustees

Tom Soper
Graduated with a BCom degree at Rhodes University. Former Chartered Accountant at Deloitte’s. Barclays’ structured finance team in Zimbabwe. Currently retired.
Tafadzwa Chigumbu
Tafadzwa grew up and was educated in a small village in the rural countryside. In 1998, he qualified as an accountant. Work for NSSA, Anglo American Corporation, Hunyani and Africom. He left formal employment and worked in establishing – Redan Petroleum, KFC Zimbabwe, Global Roofing Solutions Zim and Willowton Zimbabwe. Feels we all have a moral duty to look after our planet and hand it on in good order to future generations.
Alastair Wright
Alastair was born in Bulawayo in 1950. Attended the University of Cape Town and then the University of Surrey in the UK, where he graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering and an M.Sc degree in business methodology. Worked for Anglo American in South Africa, then 20 years with Delta Corporation, including Director of Information Technology and Managing Director of Zimbabwe Sun Limited. He retired in 2009.
