Thomas Mogorimbo is a Zimbabwean footballer who plays ZPC Kariba Football Club. Magorimbo was once played for Dynamos for four years. He was keen to remain with the Glamour Boys but the teams's new policy of signing and renewing contracts of those below twenty-five years necessitated the departure of Magorimbo.
Background
Magorimbo was born on 28 July 1985.[1]
Career
Magorimbo grew up aspiring to be a great footballer. He rose to prominence when he began to play for Kiglon. In 2011, Magorimbo became a Dynamos player. In November 2012, Magorimbo's contract expired and he was keen to sign a new contract as he claimed that he was happy at Dynamos.[2] He was quoted saying,
I'm happy here and they are happy with me. I am Dembare through and through even if l get offers from elsewhere, l will try to put Dynamos first. The team and the fans have been really good to me and l think l have been really good to them. Dynamos is my second home and l will always deliver for them.[2]
Magorimbo managed to have his contract renewed for two years. In December 2014, the club was not keen to renew his contract on the basis that he was more than twenty five. The club had resolved that it was going to sign and renew contracts of those below twenty five and Magorimbo was elbowed out.[3] This policy and or principle of injecting new and young players was initiated by Callisto Pasuwa who axed Desmond Maringwa, David Kutyakuripo, Wonder Sithole amongst others from the 25 member squad that was registered to play for the club during the 2012 CAF Champions.[4]
Magorimbi's tried to have his contract renewed but this was all in vain. Magorimbo was given a clearance letter by the club to join any club of his choice. After being cleared by Dynamos, Magorimbo was spotted in Bulawayo where it was assumed that he was trying his luck at Chicken Inn Football Club.[5] Magorimbo finally settled for a deal with ZPC Kariba Football club on 22 January 2015. He signed a one year contract which is subject to renewal. After signing with the Kariba based outfit, Magorimbo stated that,
Its always difficult to leave a team like Dynamos. I wanted to stay at the club but its unfortunate it never worked. [3]
