Tapiwa Rushesha is a Zimbabwean born businessman/ trader who is based in neighbouring Botswana. He is former husband to the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education and senior ZANU-PF member Oppah Muchinguri.
Background
Rushesha was married to politician Oppah Muchinguri from the 1980s until the 1990s when the two were engaged in a bitter divorce. Rushesha is said to have divorced Muchinguri on grounds of infidelity. The two had children together: Tanya and Natasha.[1]
Divorce with Muchinguri
Rushesha divorced Muchinguri in the 1990s. According to local media houses, Rushesha told the courts that he divorced Muchinguri due to suspicion of infidelity. He is said to have claimed that president Robert Mugabe would send his bodyguards to come and pick up Muchinguri from their matrimonial home at mid night for meetings. During this time. Muchinguri was working in the office of the president as a secretary.[2] After the divorce, Muchinguri immediately dropped the 'Rushesha' surname and reverted back to her maiden surname 'Muchinguri'.
Rushesha is said to be running a small business in neighbouring Botswana. He is believed to have left Zimbabwe in the late 1990s after the bitter divorce with the Muchinguri.
