Stansly Maponga is a Zimbabwean born athlete who plays in the National Football League in the United States of America.
Background
Stansly was born in Zimbabwe on March 5, 1991. He spent a part of his childhood in Zimbabwe before he left for America with his mother and four siblings when he was aged 8.[1]
Career
Maponga is said to have started his career in high school during his senior year where he had a very good season making 71 tackles, including 5.5 sacks and also had over 20 quarterback hurries.[2] In 2011, Maponga posted even more impressive results which included becoming one of only four players in America to rank in the top 10 in forced fumbles and top 20 in sacks, where he recorded five and nine respectively.[2] He forced five fumbles which were the most by a Horned Frog since one Jerry Hughes led the nation with six in 2008.[2] He became the first Zimbabwean to play in the NFL after he chose to forego his studies during his final year at Texas Christian Universty.
