Rhino Safari Camp

Rhino Lodge is situated on the shores of Lake Kariba within the Matusadona National Park, a remote wilderness area which has been designated as an Intensive Protection Zone for black rhino. Remoteness, combined with a constant water supply provided by the lake, make it home to a variety of animals. The big five: black rhino, elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, along with hippo and crocodile, in the lake, warthog, zebra, bush buck, impala, and numerous antelope species around the shore. As well as over 350 documented bird species.

Location and contact details

Usual access to the camp is by boat transfer from Marineland Harbour in Kariba. There are scheduled air services from Harare or Victoria Falls. Orchartert flights into Bumi Hills or Rokari airstrips (with shorter boat transfers). Camp can be driven to, but not recommended and 4WD is required.

Facility

  • The camp is small – fourteen guests in seven twin bedded, stilted, thatched, raised wooden platforms - open fronted suites. All have panoramic views of the lake. Comfortable beds with walk-in mosquito nets – private open air shower and bathroom facilities.
