Mike Madoda is a Zimbabwean radio and television sportscaster who presents various programmes alongside Barry Manandi. He is the Co-Host of ZiFM Sport every weekday on ZiFM from 6-7pm.
Background
Mike Madoda was born on 1 January 1981. He is a renowned sport caster. He has graced our television screens and airwaves with his witty commentary. With years of vast experience, he is one of the most sought after MCs in the country.[1] He is best friends with Barry Manandi. Mike is a staunch Liverpool supporter. Mike works alongside Barry Manandi at their company called Columbus Communications Group. He is a co-owner of Golden Eagles FC with Barry Manandi, a ZIFA Northern Region Division 2 club.[2] He is married with two sons.
Education
He graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Theology, Theatre Arts.
Career
He began his career at the national broadcaster ZTV in 2005. He once worked for Gary Thompson & Associates as a copywriter and TV producer. In 2017, Mike joined SuperSport to provide the anchor role in their live coverage of the Castle Lager Premiership to replace Ephraim Tagu.[3] He is a devout Christian and pastor at Celebration Ministries International.
Madoda has been the other half of the Sportsline show on radio and social media with his business partner and friend Barry Manandi. He was also part of the original crew of ZTV’s authoritative weekly football magazine Game Plan which airs every Monday night. The show is now anchored by Charles Mabika. A Liverpool fan, Madoda has always been looking for a major breakthrough in sports journalism, which he considers his strength, and was part of a group of Zimbabwean journalists who toured Germany as part of an exchange programme organised by SuperSport. He is also unapologetic about his love for Highlanders Football Club, which makes him a rare breed in a country — unlike other countries — where sports journalists prefer to keep the identity of the local teams they support a secret.[3]
