Khiama Boys
Khiama Boys is a Zimbabwean musical group formed in 1984 by Nicholas Zakaria. The group is known for churning out musicians like Alick Macheso and System Tazvida. The group has recorded more than 24 albums in their musical journey.
Background
In 1984, Zakaria left the Vhuka Boys and formed the Khiama Boys, made up of the late Cephas Karushanga, Levison Chakanyuka, Tineyi Chikupo, Alick Macheso, System Tazvida, and wife Margaret Gweshe. From then on they started making their name. They released hits and competed with the big names like Leonard Dembo, James Chimombe and Marshall Munhumumwe.[1]
Split with Alick Macheso
In 1997, Khiama Boys split with Alick Macheso forming the Orchestra Mberikwazvo which was to become one of Zimbabwe's most formidable groups. Nicholas Zakaria said during this period he was not involved full-time in music, as he was concentrating on working as a haulage truck driver. He continued to release albums yearly and, in 2003, he made a comeback.
