After dropping out of school, Cole decided to play cricket as he was a good athlete[1]. He went as far as trials with the Zimbabwe cricket national team but he could realise his dream of playing for the national team, he had to drop out after he sustained an injury[1]. Controversies
2016 Best Dancer of the Year and Best Choreographer Awards
After John Cole won the Best Dancer of the Year and Best Choreographer awards at the 2016 Zim Hip-Hop Awards and Zimbabwe Modelling Awards respectively, there was an uproar on social media as some people questioned how he managed to scoop the awards. Some said that he was not a dancer as he was just a choreographer. [5]
Jibilika Dance Trust founder, Plot Mhako wrote on Facebook:
I will say it on record. The boy has not been dancing but choreographing. I will call this a fraud [5]
However, John Cole said:
I will continue doing what I do best and that’s dance. I am a dancer, the one who creates dance compositions, plans, arranges dance movements and patterns. Dance is in my blood, it is my profession, therefore, I will keep at it, [5]
