Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport is an airport in the second capital city of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo. The airport was named after the late Zimbabwe African People's Union leader, Joshua Nkomo. Besides business, the airport is also used by tourists to visit Khami Ruins (ancient architecture) and Matobo Hills.

Background
The airport was established in 1959 and was known as Bulawayo Airport. The airport is 25 km to the north of Bulawayo. JM Nkomo International Airport is the 2nd largest airport in Zimbabwe. It has 2 runways which are 2 588 meters long by 45 metres wide and 1 347 metres by 30 metres wide capable of handling wide-bodied aircraft such as the Boeing 767. The new JM Nkomo International Airport terminal building handles 1.2 million passengers per annum. [1]
