Ingutsheni Hospital is a referral hospital in Belmont, Bulawayo Zimbabwe.The hospital offers outpatient psychiatry and counselling services and inpatient services to psychiatry patients at various levels. It runs a three-year Diploma programme in Psychiatric Nursing, an 18-month post basic Psychiatric Nursing Programme, and houses a special school for disabled children in one of its wings which is called St Francis home.
Background
Ingutsheni Hospital was established in 1908 to mainly cater for the refugees and 'black' people and whites were admitted temporarily, the certified whites would then be transferred to South Africa. Ingutsheni Hospital became a mental institution in 1933 after a psychiatrist was assigned to this hospital from England. [1] The Hospital has 725 beds in total.
