'Hamid Dhana was a former soccer star and former Dynamos, Arcadia United and Black Rhinos midfielder. His nicknames were Muzukuru and Mids. He was also a soccer coach in his later years.
Dhana died on 29 September 2019 of Colon Cancer.
Career
Dhana played for Dynamos in the 1982 season. He then left for Black Rhinos.
During his career, Dhana played alongside Gift Mpariwa, Oliver Kateya and David Mandigora.
Cancer
In September 2017, Dhana started experiencing severe stomach pains. He was advised by doctors that he had a possibly cancerous mass in his colon. He was operated on and the 'mass' removed. He was not on medical aid and had to be assisted by his children.
In May 2018, the pain returned and he was diagonised with aggressive Colon Cancer, Stage 3.
An online crowdfunding campaign was launched for his cancer treatment but only raised £3,189 of the targeted £5,000.
Dhana died on 29 September 2019.
