Doreen Sibanda is the current executive director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. She is also a painter and curator.
Background
Sibanda is of Jamaican descent.[1] She is married to Dr Misheck Sibanda who is the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet. Together they have a son Tawanda Sibanda who is married to Vimbayi Kajese
Education
She trained as an arts teacher.[1]
Career
After completing her training as an arts teacher, she was invited to showcase her artworks at different exhibitions because of her exceptional touch in the use of different paints and material in her work. She exhibited in several countries such as Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic and Zimbabwe where she joined the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and worked there between 1981 and 1988. She left the country and returned in 2004, to assume the post of executive director at the gallery.[1]
