David Elijah Maketo Sengu popularly known as Sengu was born on 16 April 1985 ^[1] in Chinhoyi, he is a professional footballer who plays for Chiredzi FC as a midfielder.

Background

Sengu attended Nyandoro Primary School in Harare's high density suburb of Highfields, he then went to attend his secondary education at Highfield High 2. Sengu is married and has 3 children.

Professional career

Sengu started his football playing career with Black Aces Junior team in 2000, he quickly established himself and gained a move to Motor Action 2001, his move to Motor Action didn't last long as he quickly earned himself a move to Caps Utd 2002 due to an impressive show. Sengu rose through the ranks to become the captain of Caps United until 2005 when Laughter Chilembe took over as the captain of the Green Machine. In 2005 Sengu was among 6 players of Caps United players who fled from their camp in the UK & didn't want to come back to Zimbabwe at the height of the Zimbabwean economy collapse after a friendly match with Highlanders which Caps lost 1-0. Sengu later returned to Zimbabwe and he returned to his old club Caps United in February and spent the whole yearplaying for the Green Machine. Sengu then moved to the newly promoted Gunners FC side in January 2011 until June 2011, after when he made a return to his former club Caps were he then took back the captain's armband. Sengu then had his contract with Caps United terminated after disputes with the club over non payments of wages. Caps claimed that Sengu had failed to "discharge his duties" as the club's captain on the 10th of July 2012.^[2]
