Darula is an award winning Zimbabwean female Zimdancehall artist. She is popularly known as Mambokadzi (Shona for Queen). Darula is part of the group of artists from Dangerzone, a Zimdancehall nickname for Dzivarasekwa. Darula sings with the HKD group of artists which is led by Freeman.
Background
Darula did her primary education at Marlborough Primary School between 2001 and 2007.[1] She later enrolled at St Eric's High School in Norton in the year 2008. She however transferred to Dzivarasekwa 2 High School. She was to finish off her ordinary level studies at Rotterville College in 2011.[1]
Music Career
Darula started music in 2010, when she was in Form Two with a group called King Sound Crew in Dzivarasekwa. She left the group in 2011 when they decided to temporarily relocate to Mozambique to pursue music there. After finishing her Ordinary Level, Darula began to pursue music with Sunshine Studios. There she met Lady Squanda who asked her to the backing for a song called Rudo. She was eventually introduced to Freeman who gave her advice and mentorship.[1]
