DJ Mox is a Zimbabwean television and radio personality who works for Star FM where he presents The Crossover TXO Show. He sometimes goes by the moniker The Moxinator.

Background

He was born Shingai Mokina. In January 2017, his son Aurona Jehu Mokina drowned in a swimming pool at their Greencroft home when he was aged two after he was left unattended.[1] He is married.

Education

He learnt at Queensdale Primary School before attending Mazowe High School. He enrolled at Charles Prince Airport in 2006 for aviation studies. While at Mazowe High he began public speaking when he was about 15 years old and joined the debate club at school. He won a few debate competitions and in 2003 he was the best speaker in the country.[2]

Career

In 2009, he was asked to do voice-overs for Kingdom Bank and after trying out for the first time, they immediately kept him as their corporate voice for about three years. While he was doing the voice-over gig, people encouraged him to try out TV. That is when he joined the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) in 2010 as a continuity presenter, mainly doing the programme line-up. He decided to try out Star FM auditions after encouragement from his mom and most of his friends. DJ Mox started presenting the Midnight Lockdown, a slot he was in charge of from 2012 to 2014. Around mid-2014 he started doing TXO – The Cross Over.[2]
