Charity Lindile Dhliwayo is a Zimbabwean economist and the former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
Education
Dhliwayo holds a PhD in Economics which she attained in 1990 from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. She also holds an MA degree in Economics from the same University after graduating in 1984. She attained BA (Honours degree) in Economics from the University of Manchester, UK in 1980.[1] [2]
Career
She joined the RBZ in 1981 and rose through the ranks from being a junior-entry level professional to the position of Deputy Governor at the Central Bank before she retired in March 2017.[2]
After the tenure of Dr Gideon Gono as RBZ governor ended, Dr. Dhliwayo served as the Acting Governor for five months until John Mangudya was appointed. She has been involved in various regional capacity building programs and activities. She sits on various Boards including the Board of the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, CIMAS and Zamco. [1]
Dhliwayo has carried out various regional assignments for Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA); African Development Bank (AFDB); Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) and East and Southern Africa Banking Supervisors (ESAF).[2]
