Apostolic Faith Church in Southern Africa

The Apostolic Faith Church in Southern Africa is Christian denomination which a number of ministries churches in Zimbabwe. It is one of the locally initiated churches in the country.

Formation and Growth

The church was formed in 1955 by Morgan Sengwayo in Gweru, in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe.^[1] During this period, Sengwayo was working as a delivery clerk for a Gweru-based company when he began to preach to small crowds.^[1] His efforts did not go unnoticed as he was approached by the Apostolic Faith in America, with headquarters in Oregon, requesting for his hand in its missionary activities in the country. With this partnership, the church began to grow and established dozens of assemblies in different parts of the country within a space of a few years. The Bulawayo Branch in the Pelandaba area became the first major church to be established and it is today the headquarters of the church. The church now has branches in countries such as Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana.^[2] The church is under the leadership of Reverend Freedom Sengwayo.
