ZINWA Has Raised Prices For Treated And Untreated Water
Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has raised prices for treated and untreated water starting in April, citing higher costs for fuel, electricity, and treatment chemicals. The organization says it aims to balance service provision and affordability for consumers, the Chronicle reported citing a statement by ZINWA. Reads the statement:
The tariff review is in response to the recent rise in the cost of key water provision inputs such as fuel, electricity, water treatment chemicals and spares as well as the need for Zinwa sustainably deliver service. The new tariffs will therefore align the price of water to the cost of production.
ZINWA has raised the prices for treated water for both prepaid and postpaid clients. Post-paid clients will see the new tariff on their April bill (which they will receive in May 2023), while prepaid clients will see the new tariff immediately.
ZINWA also appealed to all customers whose accounts were in arrears, to clear their debts as there exists a strong correlation between service delivery and payment for services.
