Zimbabwean Striker Tino Kadewere Set To Make His La Liga Debut
Zimbabwe international forward Tino Kadewere is set to make his La Liga debut for Real Mallorca when his side takes on Getafe tomorrow evening.
Kadewere made a loan move from French side Lyon to the Spanish topflight league side four months ago as he became the first Zimbabwean in La Liga.
But his debut would take longer to come after he suffered an injury that kept him on the sidelines for a lengthy period.
However, the 26-year-old striker is 100% fit for the trip to Getafe and has enjoyed some good form for Los Bermellones (The Vermilions) in friendly matches during the World Cup break.
He made his comeback from injury in a Copa del Rey match against a lower league side and managed to score on debut in a 6-0 win away from home just before the World Cup break.
Kadewere netted a hat-trick for Mallorca in his next game, a friendly match where his side triumphed 4-1 over fifth-tier side UD Poblense to mark his first starting appearance since arriving at the club.
Two weeks ago, the former Harare City man started again when Mallorca hosted Italian Serie A side Bologna at the Estadi Son Bibiloni in a friendly match which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the home side.
Last week, Kadewere was a 77th-minute substitute replacing 21-year-old South Korean winger Lee Kang-in in a 1-0 Copa del Rey victory over Real Union.
According to the Spanish publication Marca, Kadewere has scored six goals in six matches, including four friendlies and two Copa del Rey assignments.
Coach Javier Aguirre could be tempted to start Kadewere ahead of in-form Kosovo international striker Vedat Muriqi, who has scored eight goals in 12 matches this season.
Ángel Rodríguez and Abdón Prats complete Aguirre’s options upfront.
But it is expected that Kadewere will make his debut from the bench tomorrow.
