Victoria Falls International Airport: Police Intercept Heroin Set To Be Exported To India

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that it intercepted heroin at Victoria Falls International Airport that was set to be exported to India. A police statement seen by Pindula News noted that the police acted on a tip-off. Reads the statement:

ARREST OF A SUSPECT FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF HEROIN AT VICTORIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Shaik Zeenat Khatoon Rafiq (43), on 01St October 2022 at Victoria Falls International Airport for unlawful possession of 9.2kgs of heroin.

On 01st October 2022, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Victoria Falls received information that the suspect was in possession of Heroin which she intended to smuggle to India. The detectives reacted to the tip-off and tracked the suspect to Victoria Falls International Airport.

The suspect, who intended to board an Ethiopian Airline to Addis Ababa en-route to India, was found with 9,2kgs of Heroine stuffed in the lining of her travelling bag at the airport’s scanning point.

In a related case, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Beitbridge reacted to a tip-off and arrested a cross-border transporter, Obvious Moyo (34) on the 1st of October 2022, in connection with unlawful possession of 50 X 100 mls of Benylin cough syrup.

The cough syrup was found hidden underneath other luggage in a Toyota Hilux vehicle with foreign number plates. Investigations by the Police indicated that the suspect is being used by drug peddlers to transport contraband from South Africa into the country.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Police in Chipinge acted on a tip-off and arrested a self-proclaimed prophet, Paul Mashava (37) for unlawful possession of a python skin at his residence in Gaza.

Police recovered the python skin from the suspect’s bedroom, rolled in a plastic stashed in a tool’s box.

Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi applauded the public for supplying useful information to the Police.
