"Drug And Substance Abuse Will Lead To Your Eventual Dismissal" - AFZ Commander Moyo
Air Force of Zimbabwe AFZ) Commander, Air Marshal Elson Moyo warned members of the officers against drug and substance abuse which he said will eventually lead to their dismissal.
He made the remarks while addressing stakeholders at a graduation ceremony of fifty-two Air Force of Zimbabwe officers who recently completed the basic officers’ course at Josiah Tungamirai Airforce Base in Gweru.
Of those who graduated, 17 are female as the military establishment continues to address gender parity gaps in the country’s defenders of the airspace and territorial integrity. Air Marshal Elson Moyo said:
Another emerging challenge that is threatening the health of a good number of our youth in Zimbabwe is drug and substance abuse.
There will be many temptations and at times pressure on you to try some of these substances, but I can guarantee you that once you take that route, it will mark the beginning of your troubles that will lead to your eventual dismissal from the air force of Zimbabwe.
The 52 graduates went through a 32-week training programme which was physically and mentally demanding preparing them to become part of an effective Air Force of Zimbabwe.
Drug abuse is rampant in the country with some abusers attributing the trend to the collapsed economy.
