PICTURES: Break-in At St. Andrew's Catholic Church
St. Andrew’s Catholic Church has been temporarily shut down following a robbery break-in at the parish church in the early hours of 24 January 2022.
In a notice to congregants, the church said the church grounds were “desecrated and will need to be consecrated again by the Archbishop”. The notice read:
Dear St Andrew’s Parish Family, it is with a painful heart that I announce the temporary closure of St Andrew’s Parish Church due to a Robbery Break in and Desecration that took place in the early hours to today January 24, 2022.
FeedbackI am sorry to announce that robbers broke into the Parish House, Parish Hall and Parish Church and stole several items in all our three buildings.
Unfortunately, they also broke into the parish Church and stole the Mostrances, Chalices, Mass Kit, Ciboriums containing the blessed Sacrament and broke down the tabernacle. I have since managed to pick up the blessed sacrament which they disposed of in many places in the bush and by the roadside.
This act renders our Church Grounds desecrated and will need to be consecrated again by the Archbishop. With this said, the parish Church is as of today 24th January 2022, the Parish is closed until further notice.
Let us pray for each other, for the parish church and complete trust in God that He will bring us back soon in His soon-to-be-consecrated-House.
