#BlackFriday: Wear Black To Show Solidarity With Makomborero Haruzivishe - MDC Alliance

Opposition MDC Alliance has appealed to members of the public to wear black this Friday in solidarity with human rights activist Makomborero Haruzivishe who will be in court this Friday for his bail hearing.

The Students Unionist has been in prison for the past nine months over a number of alleged offences including alleged kidnapping and inciting public violence.

MDC Alliance argues that Haruzivishe is a victim of the state’s crackdown on dissent. Pindula News presents the party’s statement:

Today is #BlackFriday – a day where we all join hands to demand the release of @MakomboreroH. Wherever you are, wear black to show solidarity with his cause. His bail hearing is at 9am in the High Court. Mako is innocent. It is not a crime to demand a better society. #FreeMako

Commenting on the statement, some social media users said Haruzivishe deserves better treatment since he “is not a criminal” adding that “real criminals are roaming the streets.”

Some of the big names that were picked as criminals are Henrietta Rushwaya (Zimbabwe Mining Federation president), Obadiah Moyo (Former Health Minister), and Priscah Mupfumira (Former Tourism Minister).

The named people have pending corruption cases and some members of the public feel that they are not in prison because of their societal statuses.
