Elephant Charges At Scotch Cart, Tramples Man (46) To Death
A 46-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant at Chekwite Reserve in Mkwasine, Chiredzi, on Monday last week.
The elephant reportedly charged at a scotch cart carrying members of the same family and pursued Isaya Tarusarira (46) whom it trampled to death.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case to The Mirror.
Sources told the publication that Tarusarira was attacked by the elephant while he was in the company of his wife Esther Tanyanyiwa (46) and their son.
The Tarusarira family was coming from a church service in a neighbouring village when they came across a bull elephant that charged at them.
They disembarked from the scotch cart and ran in different directions. The wife and the son escaped while the elephant pursued Tarusarira.
The duo reached home safely and at 8 pm a search part was conducted for the missing person who was found crushed to death and covered by tree branches.
