Brazilian National Arrested With $32m Worth Cocaine
A second Brazilian national was recently arrested at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport while carrying cocaine valued at US$32 million.
Guilherme Sodre Alverez da Silveria (32) was arrested a day after his compatriot, Karoline Silva Mafra (23) appeared in court for possessing the same dangerous drug worth US$1.9 million.
Silveria on Wednesday appeared before Harare magistrate Isheunesu Matova charged with possession of cocaine.
He is being represented by Knowledge Mayeresera. Matova remanded Silveria in custody to 21 April and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
Silveria was arrested on 5 April this year by detectives who were acting on a tip-off.
He had flown into the country aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight in possession of the contraband, weighing 4.3kg.
Meanwhile, Mafra who is facing similar charges was nabbed on arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on 1 April.
