Passenger Plane Goes Missing Just After Take Off From Indonesia Airport
A Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737 passenger plane believed to be ferrying 50 passengers reportedly went missing just after takeoff from Jarkata airport in Indonesia today, BBC reports.
The plane that was headed for Pontianak in West Kalimantan province reportedly lost contact after takeoff and it lost 10 000ft in altitude a few minutes after take-off according to Flightradar24.com
Social media is reportedly sharing photos of aircraft debris after residents of the island close to the area where the airplane disappeared found objects they thought was debris from the missing plane.
According to official reports, the last contact with the plane, a 27-year-old Boeing 737-500. with the call sign SJY182, was made at 14:40 local time (07:40 GMT).
Sriwijaya Air said it is still gathering information about the flight.
