Makomborero Haruzivishe who was arrested on 29 June for allegedly taking part in a protest in Warren Park that occurred on 13 May 2020 was released on $1000 Bail by Harare Magistrate Barbra Mateko yesterday, The Zimbabwean reports.
Mako, as he is known by his friends and followers, was represented by Gift Mtisi of ZLHR after he was charged with participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of the peace or bigotry.
It is the state’s case that:
Haruzivishe participated in an illegal demonstration held on 13 May 2020 in Warren Park 1 suburb in which opposition MDC-Alliance party supporters allegedly staged a flash protest against abuse of financial resources and the extension of a government enforced national lockdown by President Mnangagwa.
During the demonstration, prosecutors argued, that Haruzivishe and some protestors reportedly carried a placard inscribed “Unlock Us Before We Revolt”.
Haruzivishe’s arrest came a few short days after ARTUZ President Obert Masaraure was arrested for participating in an anti-government protest a few days before his arrest, he was then released on $500 bail the following day.
