FastJet Providing Repatriation Flights From Johannesburg To Harare... Here Is How To Apply
FastJet is offering one-way flights to Zimbabwean citizens from Johannesburg to Harare during the lockdown period. Below is a statement from the airline on how one can apply for a flight:

- How much does it cost? – Our fares are subject to change, however, to provide you with an approximate idea we expect that a one-way fare from Johannesburg to Harare to be US$385 per adult or child. Infants are US$60. These are inclusive of taxes and a bus from the designated meeting point to the airport. Fare prices are higher than what we would normally charge because our flights are only operating with passengers in one direction. In the opposite direction, the aircraft flies only with the crew. Whereas we are committed to helping people get home, we do need to cover all costs.
- How much luggage can I take? – 1 x 23kg suitcase + 1 x 7kg hand luggage There can be NO LIQUIDS
AT ALL in your hand Luggage.- What measures are being taken to protect passengers from possible transmission of COVID-19? – All passengers will be pre-screened for temperature and symptoms and you will be required to hand sanitise many times during the journey and flight process. You will also be required to wear a mask for the duration of the flight. There are a lot of conditions we as an airline, and you as passengers need to adhere to – all of which are for your own wellbeing and safety.
- Will there be onboard Physical Distancing? – We will not be filling every seat on each row. Our aircraft only have three seats on each row and we will keep the middle seat fee unless it is occupied by someone from the same family.
- What are the quarantine requirements on arrival in Zimbabwe? – This is subject to change. At the time of sharing this with you, we have been made aware that you can either pay for private quarantine at an approved private lodge or hospitality facility or accept the Government provided facility. If you are going the private route, this needs to be confirmed, in writing, prior to arrival. We suggest you enquire through returnhome@zincat.org for more details.
- Are you only flying to Harare? – If you would like to go to Bulawayo of Victoria Falls, please indicate this when applying. Currently, we have only arranged for Harare, but with sufficient numbers for the other destinations, it may be possible to arrange multi-destination flights or an individual flight for each destination.
- I am not in Johannesburg. Can I fly from elsewhere in South Africa? – The lockdown restrictions and conditions will vary. Please indicate, when applying where you are and where you would like to fly from. Currently, our plans and fares are based on flights to/from Johannesburg and Harare. We will, of course, consider other destinations subject to demand.
- I am not in SA but am hoping to catch a flight to SA to then be able to fly to Harare, is this possible? – Our best advice is to register with the Zimbabwe Embassy where you are currently and seek their advice. We are keen to assist best we can, accepting that approvals and limitations are most out of our control. However please do let us know what our situation is as we may be able to assist.
