ZERA Commissions The Net Metering Project
ZERA has commissioned the net metering project that will see people with solar systems and solar plants sell excess solar energy to the national grid to boost the country’s energy levels. New Zimbabwe reports.
This was revealed by Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) Customer Services Manager, Nobert Matarutse who was speaking at a stakeholder’s interactive meeting when he said:
Any existing customer producing solar energy on their premises could feed excess power into ZETDC network through a grid tied inventor and a smart meter which measures both power consumed by the customer and power supplied to the grid. As ZERA, we believe that renewable energy is the way to go as it presents a multiplicity of benefits.
FeedbackThe project will benefit both the nation and the participants. ZESA last year introduced 18-hour load shedding schedules as its biggest power plant in Kariba was affected by the 2019 drought.
