2020 Tobacco Marketing Season To Start On 29 April - TIMB

TIMB has announced that the 2020 Tobacco Marketing season will commence on Wednesday 29 April. The short notice notifying stakeholders about the onset of the season reads:

START OF THE 2020 FLUE-CURED TOBACCO MARKETING SEASON

• All stakeholders are advised that the 2020 AUCTION TOBACCO MARKETING SEASON starts on WEDNESDAY 29T” APRIL 2020. • CONTRACT TOBACCO SALES will start on THURSDAY 30Th APRIL 2020. • Sales bookings and deliveries will open on MONDAY 27TH APRIL 2020.

Meanwhile, the government has decentralised auction floors following the outbreak of COVID-19 which has claimed the lives of 4 people in Zimbabwe so far and killed close to 200 000 people globally.

The marketing season had been delayed to give farmers more time to prepare due to the erratic rains experienced in the 2019/2020 farming season and the 2019 drought.
