FULL TEXT: Russia Congratulates Zimbabwe On 40th Year Independence Anniversary

Dear Zimbabwean Friends,
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Harare is delighted to join the People of the Republic of Zimbabwe in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Independence!
FeedbackBack in the 20th century the Soviet Union fully endorsed the freedom aspirations and rendered the relevant assistance to the nation of Zimbabwe.
The liberation movement paved the way for a new page in the glorious history of this country as well as for a higher level of the deep-rooted and strong ties between Moscow and Harare.
Russia continued to support the independent policy of Zimbabwe and played an important role as the UN Security Council Permanent Member in preventing attempts from the outside on the sovereignty of the Republic.
Over the years Russia and Zimbabwe have been in close foreign policy coordination advocating for multicentric world order, opposing illegitimate sanctions and promoting the mission of the United Nations to maintain the modern architecture of international relations.
The Second Republic ushered in an era of the socio-economic revival under the new dispensation with Russia participating in this process through sustainable cooperation with the Zimbabwean Partners.
The historic meeting of President Putin and President Mnangagwa in Moscow in January 2019 followed by the fruitful participation of the Zimbabwean Delegation in the first Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum in Sochi in October the same year produced a powerful impetus to the development of the bilateral interaction in various fields.
The flagship projects being implemented by the Russian diamond giant “ALROSA” and the joint company “Great Dyke Investments” operating in the sphere of the platinum group of metals draw the attention of the Russian business to the rich investment opportunities in Zimbabwe.
The 4th Meeting of the Russian-Zimbabwean Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation scheduled for November this year in Harare is set to promote further the mutually beneficial
partnership that will contribute to decreasing the negative impact of the pandemic on the national economies and to accelerating the achievement of the Vision 2030.Happy Independence Day!
