Chippa United, FC Platinum Agree On Outstanding Transfer Fees For Moyo Twins
South African Premier League club Chippa United chief operations officer Lukhanyo Mzinzi has said they have reached an agreement with Zimbabwean Premier League champions FC Platinum regarding outstanding transfer fees for twin brothers Kevin and Elvis Moyo.
This comes as FC Platinum were allegedly considering reporting Chippa United to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) because of the club’s failure to keep up with the agreed payments. Said Mzinzi:
We sorted the matter between us and FC Platinum last week and there is no issue. They [Platinum] wrote to Fifa on this matter but we have given assurances to them [Fifa] that we will keep up with payments as per agreements and this matter has been dealt with.
FeedbackMzinzi claimed that South Africa’s weak economy has made it difficult for Chippa to keep up with the payments. He said:
You know my brother that the economy is fragile at the moment but we have an arrangement with FC Platinum and we are on the same page with them.
The Moyo twins moved to Port Elizabeth on two-year contracts that had one-year add-ons in July last year.
The defenders have played a combined 30 league matches for Chippa in the 2019/20 season, with Kevin having played 23 matches while Elvis Moyo has played 7 games.
