"2023 Is Already Done And Dusted. There's NO Contest, Actually," - Obert Gutu
Former deputy Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, advocate Obert Gutu has suggested that there is already a winner in the 2023 elections.
He posted on the microblogging site, Twitter and said:
According to my humble prognosis, 2023 is already done and dusted. There’s NO contest, actually. Ask me later.
FeedbackHis remarks come when there is still a standoff between the ruling ZANU PF and the opposition MDC over the 2018 presidential election which the latter claims was stolen by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in connivance with ZANU PF.
The MDC has since announced that it will boycott the 2023 elections if the 2018 election dispute has not been resolved.
Gutu’s remarks are in resonance with sentiments of many political analysts who have said that the playing field is not level hence the need for political, legal, media, and electoral reforms for a fair contest.
They also blame the MDC for participating in the 2018 elections when no reforms had been implemented and when it was clear that the landscape favoured ZANU PF.
