"Our Military, Our Soldiers Must Be Part Of The Dialogue" - CHAMISA
Leader of the opposition MDC, Nelson Chamisa has said that a genuine political dialogue in Zimbabwe should consist of the security sector in the country.
He made the remarks while addressing party supporters at Stodart Hall in Mbare where he was presenting the MDC’s Agenda 2020. Chamisa said:
We want genuine dialogue, the dialogue must be scaffolded and underwritten by a credible mediator. This dialogue must be a dialogue not about power nor position but a dialogue about vision, principles and the future of our country.
FeedbackThe national executive leaders appealed to me that when I raise the issue of dialogue next time I should request that our military, our soldiers be part of the negotiating table because they may have concerns that are not being addressed by politicians.
The MDC refused to join the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum which was initiated by President Mnangagwa last year arguing that the forum was a circus.
Both ZANU PF and the MDC agree on the need to negotiate observing that dialogue will aid in resolving socio-economic and political crises in the country. However, they disagree on how the dialogue should be undertaken, who should be on the table and the convenor.
