Chief Ndiweni Challenges His Dismissal At The High Court
Dethroned Chief Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni has approached the High Court challenging the decision by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remove him from the Ntabazinduna chieftaincy.
Ndiweni was on November 30, stripped of his traditional powers following a recommendation by Cabinet and the
Matabeleland North Provincial Assembly of Chiefs.
Through his lawyer Dumisani Dube of Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers, Ndiweni on Thursday filed an application at the Bulawayo High Court.
The outspoken Ndiweni has prayed the High Court to nullify his removal and declare it unlawful.
He also wants the Court to direct Latiso Dlamini (acting provincial development coordinator for Matabeleland North) and Tapiwa Zvivovoyi ( Umguza district development coordinator) to stop dispossessing him of his Government-issued vehicle and the chief’s regalia among other State-owned assets in his possession.
Prior to his removal, Ndiweni had clashed with government officials on several occasions over Gukurahundi, sanctions and land claims around the Ntabazinduna mountains.
