"We Must Deliver On Our Promises," President Mnangagwa
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has told the ruling ZANU PF which he heads that it has to fulfil the promises made to the electorate.
Addressing delegates at the party’s 18th Annual People’s Conference held at Goromonzi High School from Thursday to Sunday, Mnangagwa said:
As we come to the end of this mega event, let these resolutions that we have made here embolden us and inspire action.
FeedbackThese conferences are not talking shows. We must deliver on our promises. To this we must remain focused, united and guided by our party constitution.
His remarks come amidst reports that voter turnout has decreased significantly over the years as the electorate feels disillusioned with politicians across the political divide failing to deliver on pre-election promises.
The remarks also come as a wake-up call to the ruling party which is governing a disgruntled nation due to socioeconomic and political crises in the country which are characterised, among others, by a huge deficit in fuel, foreign currency, electricity, food, medicines and a shrinking democratic space, despite the ruling party pledging in its pre-election manifesto to deal with the issues.
