ECOCASH: Transactions Now Going Through Normally
EcoCash Chief Executive Officer Eddie Chibi has said that transactions on the Ecocash platform were now going through normally adding that they were working on clearing a backlog of transactions.
His remarks come after the largest mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service in the country embarked on a scheduled system upgrade which unexpectedly resulted in system glitches.
The new system came without some functions, was lethargic whilst in worst scenarios, customers’ money would be consumed with transactions not reflecting whether they were successful or not.
Customers bombarded Ecocash with complaints on various platforms including its social media pages to which the company responded saying that they were working on rectifying the issues. Techzim reports that over the last few hours some users who had their EcoCash accounts blocked due to faults were now regaining access to their accounts.
Speaking to the publication, Chibi said:
I’m pleased to say that transactions on our new EcoCash platform are now going through normally.
We are however currently seized with clearing a backlog of transactions particularly those arising from third-party integrations, and continue to ask for our customers’ patience as we work to clear this last hurdle.
The Ecocash “web” touches almost every sector of the Zimbabwean economy and a minor glitch has the potential to bring the whole country to halt.
