MDC To Intensify SADC Diplomatic Offensive
The MDC said that it will continue its diplomatic offensive in the SADC region in spite of Zimbabwe’s assumption of a key role in the regional body.
Zimbabwe will take over the chairmanship of the SADC Organ On politics, Defence and Security Cooperation at the Summit to be held in Tanzania in August this year.
The opposition party’s international relations secretary, Gladys Hlatswayo told the Daily News that her party will turn on the diplomatic pressure. She said:
We are aware that Mnangagwa will try hard to block this discussion and has been going around the region and openly lying to regional leaders that everything is well in Zimbabwe.
How can everything be okay when citizens are struggling to survive?
We shall keep knocking on the doors of our brothers and sisters within Sadc to help us help ourselves. We shall be turning up diplomatic and political pressure to achieve a better Zimbabwe for all in line with our RELOAD roadmap.
Hlatswayo urged SADC to immediately take action to deal with Zimbabwe’s crises rather than waiting for things to go out of hand. She added:
Instead of waiting for the inevitable implosion to happen, Sadc can take proactive action to avert catastrophe.
