Gold Mine Collapses, Kills Four, 12 Remain Trapped Underground

Nugget Mine Civil Protection Department Chairperson, Ms. Sithandiwe Ncube has confirmed that four gold miners have died after the mine collapsed on Monday morning.
It is feared that the death toll might rise to six after the mine in Matabeleland South Province collapsed. Reports also indicate that 12 other miners are still trapped underground the mine situated about 30km from Bulawayo.
The chairperson has indicated that mining experts are assessing the risks before a rescue team is dispatched underground. She also revealed that resources are also being mobilised in order to rescue the trapped miners and retrieve the bodies spotted at the site of the mine accident.
