Mine Owner Shot & Killed In Dispute Over Snooker Ball
A miner from Filabusi reportedly shot and killed a mine owner in a dispute that started over a missing pool ball.
Xolani Ncube (35) of Mlenja shot Samuel Donga 3 times in the chest and once on the arm, killing him instantly.
The deceased was the owner of Marvel Mine in Filabusi whose workers had quarrelled with Ncube after a black ball went missing while they were playing snooker.
State prosecutor, Miss Glenda Nare, revealed that Ncube handed himself over to the police after having been on the run for 5 days. Said Nare:
On 24 April Ncube was playing a pool game at Marvel Compound with Donga’s employees when the black ball went missing and he accused them of stealing it which resulted in a misunderstanding.
Donga later heard about the matter and went to Ncube’s home in a bid to resolve the dispute. Donga arrived at Ncube’s home and accused him of attacking his workers.
This didn’t go down well with Ncube who drew a Ross revolver from his waist and shot Donga three times in the chest and once on the left arm. Donga died on the spot and his body was taken to Filabusi District Hospital Mortuary.
After surrendering himself at the Gwanda Urban Police Station CID department, Ncube led police to his rural home in Filabusi where he had hidden the firearm and it was recovered.
