Zanu-PF Chief Whip Pulls Out Of 2018 Elections

Addressing a Gutu Development Association fundraising dinner event in Harare last night, Zanu-PF chief whip and Gutu Central Legislator Lovemore Matuke announced that he was voluntarily stepping down from his seat to pave way for Winston Chitando to contest for the constituency in the forthcoming elections. Chitando is also the Minister of Mines and Mining Development.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu also announced that he will not seek to be reelected as a member of parliament for his constituency in this year’s elections to pave way for a younger generation of leaders. He said he will be contesting for a Senatorial seat instead. Apart from Mpofu, his wife Sikhanyisiwe, who is a legislator under proportional representation and Bubi MP, Clifford Sibanda, have also indicated that they would be making way for younger leaders.

Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Muzvezve Peter Haritatos also announced he will not be seeking to be reelected in the coming elections saying he is passing the opportunity to give a chance to the younger generation.
