Updated: 30-year-old Mother Caught Cheating in Zimsec O' Level Exam

Sithulisiwe Ngwenya (30) a single mother of three was caught cheating in an exam on Monday. Ngwenya from Nketa 8 Suburb in Bulawayo, was writing the Zimsec Integrated Science O’Level Paper Three when she smuggled answers into the exam room. However, her luck ran out when she was caught red-handed copying the answers onto her answer sheet by invigilator, Ms Rutendo Chatambudza.

Ngwenya appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Franklin Mkhwananzi facing a charge of gaining unlawful access to examination material. She was convicted on her own plea of guilty after admitting that she committed the crime out of desperation as she had been writing and failing repeatedly. She claimed that she had been given the answers by a man she met on the bus on her way to school.

She was sentenced to six months imprisonment. The sentence was wholly suspended on condition that she performs 210 hours of community service at Mandwandwe Secondary School.
