Zhuwao reverses Mupfumira's decision to dismiss ZCTU President from NSSA board

Newly appointed Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Patrick Zhuwao reinstated Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) president Peter Mutasa to the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) board.

Mutasa was dismissed from the NSSA board by former minister Prisca Mupfumira in May 2017 on allegations of leaking confidential board discussions and working against the institution’s interests. Zhuwao said that Mutasa’s appointment would be for the duration of the current board. In a letter addressed to Mutasa, Zhuwao said that he hoped the reinstatement will result in Mutasa withdrawing all lawsuits. Although some sources told The Financial Gazette that Zhuwao would push for another audit at NSSA, Mutasa said the matter had not come up in the meeting with the minister.
